Shin Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage (新西国三十三箇所)
The Shin Saigoku 33 Kannon Temple Pilgrimage consists of 33 sacred Kannon sites that were selected in 1932 based on the joint popularity votes submitted by readers of the three city newspapers Osaka Jiji Shinpo Newspaper, Kobe Shinbun Newspaper and Kyoto Nichinichi Shinbun Newspaper, with five additional sites being added in 1967 to create the current total of 38. The pilgrimage consists of many popular temples.
It does not include any of the temples of the Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage, believed to be Japan's first pilgrimage,
